Paragin Group acquires Xebic, expanding EdTech for education. Combined offerings enhance assessment tools for vocational schools, colleges, universities.
August 7, 2024
After an interesting and intensive period, we can finally announce that Xebic is becoming part of the Paragin Group! Both companies develop software for education, both in the Netherlands and abroad, and have several highly complementary products for colleges, universities, and vocational education. Through this collaboration, even more students, teachers, and schools in (vocational) education can be supported with online software, ensuring that all attention can be focused on the personal development of students.
After previously joining forces with SOWISO in the field of math-focused learning and testing software (2022) and exam and course management software provider Coachview (2023), the addition of Xebic is the logical next step. Together with Xebic, Paragin Group establishes itself as a true best-of-breed provider of solutions for the development and assessment of students' knowledge, skills, and competencies. This is something we have both been doing separately with great pleasure over the past years and can now do together with even greater impact.
With the combined product offering, a great mix of solutions emerges in various areas of education. For example, the combination of Remindo, SOWISO, Coachview, and OnTrac offers many new possibilities in the field of test and exam planning and secure test administration. Practical exams and the submission and assessment of assignments and projects is also a combined theme area with GradeWork and MyPortfolio. Additionally, internships and work-based learning is an area where great combinations can be made between OnStage, MyPortfolio, and Competent.
Paragin and Xebic have each separately made significant contributions to developing and implementing the OOAPI standard (Open Education API), an ambitious project by Project OKE, the MBO Raad, and MBO Digitaal to connect exam planning, testing software, and student information systems. With Remindo on one side and OnTrac on the other, we continue to work on further developing and supporting this exchange standard for test planning and results.
Paul Giesberts, co-founder of Xebic, is enthusiastic about the collaboration:
"Xebic has a track record of two decades in successfully delivering EdTech solutions for educational processes to its growing customer base in the areas of assessment, internship, and thesis management.
The collaboration with Paragin Group takes this to the next level by delivering added value to existing customers through integrating Xebic solutions with Paragin Group solutions and expanding the Xebic solution portfolio to new international markets. Xebic will greatly benefit from the complementary solutions and international network of Paragin Group."
Sjoerd Aarts, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Paragin, is also pleased with the addition of Xebic to Paragin:
"Just over three years after starting our collaboration, we have been able to successfully execute a strategy that has enabled Paragin to accelerate the international rollout of its solutions, while also completing three highly complementary add-on acquisitions.
Paragin has developed a unique value proposition for international EdTech markets, and we are curious to see how the organization will continue to deliver even more added value to its customers and partners in this new setting."
Jeroen Bakker, CEO at Paragin Group, adds:
"Xebic and Paragin have been partners for a long time, and we felt this was the right moment to take this collaboration to a higher level by also working together strategically with Paul and the Xebic team. We see many opportunities to further expand our joint offering to schools, publishers, and collaboration partners, to add value to education. Our software focuses on everything around the pupil, student, or working professional, from portfolios to internships and from tests to exams, which we work on with great pleasure. With Xebic, we have a lot of overlap in culture and core values, and together we can offer many great solutions to education."
